For Homeschoolers

I started New Septembers for the purpose of empowering young people and their parents in creating their own learning lives. Homeschooling provides families with the flexbility to create their own vision of how learning, education, (or just childhood, adolescence, life) could be, and to figure out what activities, practices, and approaches will contribute to the realization of their goals. Sometimes families find that it's useful to have support as they go about determining what they want their homeschooling life to look like, or even if homeschooling is really what they want. I offer individualized support at any stage of the homeschooling process. The process involved in my tutoring services as well as my parent coaching services were actually designed with homeschoolers in mind. All of my services are available to families with children in school or out.

I do offer a few services that are only available to homeschooling families (or those considering homeschooling). I offer individualized homeschooling assessments for Maine families. My homeschooling consultations offer parents support in various stages of the homeschooling process, including considering homeschooling, getting started, and problem-solving and re-energizing. I also offer group rates to homeschoolers who would like to have me run a reading or writing workshop for a small group of students, in which young people have a chance to work on their reading or writing skills as part of a community and under the guidance of an experienced reading and writing teacher.
